By providing
a culture based, value based education and uplifting the
students’ earlier potentials to make the knowledgeable
society, our Saraswathi Educational and Health Trust
started the SMR
college of Education in the year 2006, with the
objective of, to produce sincere, hardworking, dedicated
and competent primary and secondary school teachers who
can try new innovative thinking and practices in their
class rooms, it is approved by the NCTE and it is
affiliated to TNTEU, Chennai.
Our SMR college of Education covers the B.Ed.,
programme in various disciplines (like Tamil, English,
Mathematics, Physical Science (includes Physics,
Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry), Biological Science (includes
Botany, Zoology, Micro-biology, Bio-Technology), Social
Science (includes History, Geography), Computer Science
(includes Information Technology, Computer Application
and Computer Science), Commerce and Economics and it
covers Engineering discipline also (includes Mathematics
and Computer Science as prescribed by the NCTE).
Our SMR College of Education has the resourceful
academic faculties and facilities like Laboratory,
Library, Hostel, Canteen etc.,. Our college performed
the co-curricular activities as well as extra-curricular
activities along with academic activities of the
students as follows:
Ø
On August 1st,
the SMR College of Education was inaugurated.
Ø
On 5th
Sep. 2015 the Teacher’s Day was celebrated with
student teachers.
Ø
From 4th
Jan to Feb. 28th of 2015, the I year Student
teachers went to the schools in Tiruchirappalli and
Pudukkottai districts for their Observation Practices
Ø
One of the
core paper, ‘Yoga, Health and Physical Education” a
person, Mrs. Sita Devi Practiced the B.Ed., student
teachers through theoretically as well as practically.
Ø
For the above
paper, a nutritionist, Ms. S. Preethi, discussed the
Health and Nutrition aspects with the student teachers.
Ø
On 28th
March. 2016, Mr. selvendran, PG Asst, Government school,
Mandaiyur, discussed about the Comprehensive and
Continuous Evaluation which was practiced regularly on
their schools with the student teachers.
Ø
On that day,
”Ramanujar”, a short film showed to the student
teachers to know about the Ramanujar, the great
Mathematician’s history.
Ø
From 16th
Mar. to 20th Mar. 2016, Five days Citizenship
Training Camp Programme was conducted.
In this camp, the activities were conducted as
follows:
i)
Mrs. Priya
Govindarajan, Director of Samuthrika Academy gave a
beautiful and enjoyable but beneficial programmes like
Dance, Music and Ari work with their team to the student
teachers;
ii)
Mr. Ebinezar
Chandrahasan, performed and practiced the Citizenship
Training to become a good citizen through their safety
precautionary measures and activities with his team
members to the student teachers;
iii)
At the end of
the Camp, a small tour programme was arranged to.
“Arivu Thirukkovil” , Azhiyar, and the places
nearby to that.
Ø
In the
academic stream of the year 2015-16, two internal
assessments and one model examination were conducted.
Ø
The practical
examination was held on 23rd July 2016.
Apart from
the students, on 17th and 18th
Nov, 2016, the staff members
Dr. P. Nirmala Tamilchelvi, Mrs.M.Sankari and
Mr.N. Dhasil have undergone an Orientation Course on the
New Syllabus for two year B.Ed/M.Ed., progamme organized
by TNTEU, held at Jamal Mohammad College,
Tiruchirappalli, to understand the implications on the
syllabus in both theory as well as practical components
and on 11th and 12th Jan. 2017,
the staff members, Mrs. M.Uma Maheswari and Mrs. V. Uma
Maheswari have undergone an orientation programme, on
Lesson Plan Writing and Test Construction organized by
TNTEU, held at Jamal Mohammad College, Tiruchirappalli.
Our staff member Dr. P. Nirmala Tamilchelvi took
part in National Level Seminar on 22nd Dec.
2016 and presented the paper entitled, “Open
Educational Resources: Ethical Use Perspective” held
at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
Also, on 24th Dec.2016, the staff
member Mrs.M.Sankari have participated a work shop on
Enhancing Professional capacity in Drama and Art in
Education, organized by Kongunadu College of Education,
Thottium. And,
On Sep. 2016, the staff member Mrs. S. Kavitha has
professionally enrolled her Ph.D Programme in
Bharathidasan University.
Academic Achievement:
Our College has produced 97% result with first
class for the last batch.
62 candidates have secured Distinction and 35
candidates passed with First Class in the previous held
examination.
Our Student Teacher, Mrs. M. Malathy has secured
10th Rank in Tamilnadu Teachers Education
University and District 1st in Pudukkottai
district in the year 2014-15.
